Callaway's Best Clubs, 2008

Callaway came out swinging in 2008 with three winners in drivers, hybrids and irons, according to Golf Magazine.

The May issued of Golf Magazine came out with their Best Clubs for 2008.  Callaway’s FT-i driver was rated Best for Accuracy and the Hyper X was rated Best for Distance in the Tour Drivers category.

Callaway scored a category winner with the FT Hybrid, voted the most versatile hybrid of the group, as well as best for distance and direction.  Similarly, the new FT irons scored nearly five stars for performance and feel.  Although these clubs are directed to the aspiring player (10 - 15 handicap) players with a solid iron game will like these clubs regardless.

The Callaway X-Forged wedge ranked as high as the Titleist Spin Milled, and the Odyssey White Hot XG Marxman mallet performed as well as most of the higher priced models in the group.

It has been a difficult year for the golf industry to date, and not likely to get a lot better.  It is encouraging to see the results of the new products tested, especially of those introduced by long established brands such as Wilson,Ping, Cobra and Callaway.

Our customers have come to expect innovation from the major brands, but that doesn’t always happen.  It’s nice to see some creative energy getting directed to club design and performance despite tough economic times.
